BRIDGING COMMUNITIES
Art can bring people together and we seek to harness that power of art to enhance our placemaking efforts, creating vibrant communities where people, businesses and communities can thrive. To achieve this, we are pleased to launch SingLand Inspires, an initiative that supports art with a focus on local and regional artists through the commissioning of artworks for public spaces across our portfolio of properties.
INJECTING VIBRANCY
“Having shaped Singapore’s skyline for close to 60 years, we aspire to go beyond building well-designed spaces to creating a platform for artists to showcase their talent and creativity.”
– Jonathan Eu, CEO
The first phase of the implementation was at SGX Centre 2 and Tampines Plaza 1 & 2, to complement the completed refurbishment of the lobbies.
For SGX Centre 2, we worked with Thai contemporary artist Mit Jai Inn for three art installations for the property’s lobby. The large canvas artworks add character and inject vibrancy into the space, enveloping viewers with their fields of bright colours.
For Tampines Plaza 1 & 2, we partnered with UOB to identify local artists to commission new artworks. UOB’s long-running Painting of the Year competition aims to raise the profile of budding Southeast Asian artists and we are glad to continue this momentum by commissioning new paintings from its past winners, Ivan David Ng and Joanne Pang, to showcase their art to a wider audience.
ART FOR ALL
We believe that the arts play an important role in the community and should be accessible to everyone. Over time, we look to expand SingLand Inspires to support a broader range of artrelated activities and in a myriad of ways.
Meanwhile, we invite you to visit the artworks at our properties and hope that they can be a source of inspiration or a quick respite amid a busy day.
